Dr. Richard C. Morrison, Jr. is a board-certified cardiothoracic surgeon specializing in minimally invasive vascular surgery, daVinci Robotic surgery and Transcatheter Aortic Valve Replacement, or TAVR. Dr. Morrison has practiced in the Tampa area since 2002 and served as an integral member of the team to first operate out of Florida Hospital’s Pepin Heart Institute. Dr. Morrison is still a core member of the cardiothoracic team at Pepin Heart Institute, there he provides state-of-the-art cardiac care for severe aortic stenosis using the TAVR procedure, or Transcatheter Aortic Valve Replacement alongside Dr. Bloom. This innovative technique is only offered at the most elite facilities across the country and Dr. Morrison, as well as all of the staff at Cardiac Surgery Associates of Tampa, remains dedicated to bringing all the most sophisticated procedures to Tampa residents. He is a physician proctor for minimally invasive heart valve surgery for Edwards Lifesciences.

Dr. Morrison received his Bachelor of Science in chemistry from Georgetown University in Washington, D.C. He went on to earn his medical degree in Newark from the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey.  Remaining in the northeast, Dr. Morrison completed both his general surgery residency and his cardiothoracic surgery fellowship at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital in Philadelphia, Pa. He has additional certifications in advanced cardiac life support and advanced trauma life support.
